Morning Sun Star - Sea World
Characteristics
Japanese starfish with 11 arms (20-21 cm).
Collection of shells and conches. With between eight and 16 arms and usually red or orange in color, the morning sun star "Solaster dawsoni" looks like a cartoon sun but is much more voracious than it appears. It is found in the North Pacific, from Japan to Siberia and along the coast of North America, it feeds on many of its relatives - the spotted starfish, the striped sunflower star, the pink starfish, the slime star and others, who try to outrun it, be cunning, fight her or play dead in her presence.
